TEDucation Degree
TED.com is an amazing opportunity for people to pursue learning in any area they may be interested, from the foremost experts in the field. For free. Videos range from three minutes to 25 minutes and run the gambit of topics from humor to the arts, entertainment to inspiration, science and technology to philosophy and world politics. There is a little something for everyone at TED.com.
In this class you will have an opportunity to pursue your own interests in learning, selecting your own videos of interest to explore and share. You will be graded on completing the work for an AT (Associates in TED) degree and for a BT (Bachelors in TED) degree.
AT requirements:
Complete the viewing of five videos of your selection, of any length and topic, and write and submit a paragraph summary discussing what you learned from each video. (Five videos = five summaries)Write a one page paper discussing the topics you chose, and sharing what you learned. You must specifically reference at least three of the videos you viewed during your studies. This paper will be submitted on the day of presentation to the class.
BT requirements:
AT requirements, plus:
Complete the viewing of five more videos of your selection, of any length, on the SAME topic (or search category)*, write and submit a paragraph summary discussing what you learned from each video, (five more summaries).
Write a three page paper discussing the topic you chose, or emphasis, and sharing what you learned. You must specifically reference at least five of the videos you viewed during your studies. This paper will be submitted on the day of presentation to the class.
Presentation requirements:
• Must be between three and five minutes long
• Must reference at least three of the five videos that were a part of your study
• Must employ a visual aid (PowerPoint, Prezi, Empressr, Poster, Brochure, Handout)
You will be given SOME time in class to work on this degree, so those of you with no outside internet access will have a limited amount of time on the computers. Please plan your time accordingly. (Some videos are longer than others. Pick those that interest you, which ALSO fit your schedule).
